Size of the Ngorongoro Crater & Ngorongoro Conservation Area

This gigantic volcanic caldera boasts a diameter of about 19 kilometers and a depth of around 600 meters. It covers an area of approximately 260 square kilometers, making it among the world’s largest calderas that are not submerged.
Diverse Wildlife

Besides, during the wet season, large herds of wildebeests, zebras, and Thompson’s gazelles flock here to graze. Hyenas, hippos, cheetahs also roam the park. The soda lake in the crater often draws flamingos.
